Celebrating Līgo in AKROPOLE shopping centres: changes to opening hours and planned activities

2024-06-17

Changes in the opening hours of the shopping centres AKROPOLE Rīga and AKROPOLE Alfa are planned on Līgo and Jāņi. To get in the festive mood and fully prepare for the celebrations, the shopping centres will offer creative workshops, including wreath weaving. Everyone will also be able to visit the festive traders for a variety of Līgo goods.

“Līgo and Jāņi have a special place in the hearts of Latvians, so we are delighted to be able to enhance the shopping experience of visitors with beautiful festive decorations and the opportunity to buy special Līgo goods and treats during this festive period. Those who wish to honour tradition on Līgo are welcome to join a wreath-making workshop to weave their own festive wreath under the guidance of skilled staff, as well as to try their hand at creating other festive accessories. I also invite you to take the changes in the opening hours into account and get everything you need for the celebrations and the festive table in time – the wide range of AKROPOLE stores will be able to satisfy the tastes and needs of everyone”, says Aija Urbāne-Orbāne, Marketing Manager of the shopping centres AKROPOLE Rīga and AKROPOLE Alfa.

To make the celebrations special, from 14 to 23 June, both shopping centres will have Līgo delicacies and goods traders – AKROPOLE Rīga by entrance C, and AKROPOLE Alfa by entrance A. In the premises of both shopping centres it will be possible to buy beautifully designed head jewellery, crowns and hair accessories from KŌRAS vainagi. For an authentic table setting, wooden products from Sidrabkoks will be available for purchase. And Arsenijs Fabrica will have Latvian-made body care cosmetics, bath bombs and soaps. In addition, visitors of AKROPOLE Rīga will be able to buy goods from Ledus vīni winery – unique wines, ciders, mulled wines and non-alcoholic beverages. But the Aromātu fabrika stand will offer unusual perfume products – perfumes, home fragrances, soaps, pocket perfumes, bath salts and other products. At AKROPOLE Alfa, lovers of homemade gastronomic delights will be able to buy colourful greens, vegetables, pickled foods and marinades from the farm Vārpas.

In celebration of Līgo, creative workshops will be organised in both shopping centres on 21 June from 14.00 to 19.00. Visitors will have the opportunity to weave a wreath from meadow flowers and Jāņi herbs and make a decorative felt meadow flower ornament to pin on their festive costume. Young and old alike will be fascinated by the Līgo Night candle holder workshop, where they will have the opportunity to create their own light bearer for welcoming the morning. Look for the workshops in AKROPOLE Rīga between entrances A and F and in the central square of AKROPOLE Alfa by the Information Centre. All workshops are free of charge and all necessary materials will be provided.

The shopping centres will also change their opening hours during the holidays – on 23 June, the opening hours will be one hour shorter, i.e., 10.00–20.00.
