2022-08-12

The exhibition “Portrait of Femininity” by contemporary Latvian artist Baiba Feoktistova is officially opened in the shopping centre AKROPOLE Alfa, offering visitors a new experience of enjoying art. From 10 August, everyone can visit the exhibition for free and be inspired by the artist's never-before-seen works, including neon painting and painted dresses, as well as other glamorous works in which she experiments with the depiction of women. The exhibition is open daily and is located on the 3rd floor of AKROPOLE Alfa in the exhibition hall.

Yesterday, on 10 August, visitors of AKROPOLE Alfa had a unique opportunity to meet the artist herself in a festive atmosphere and get to know the works better by learning about them in more detail.

“It has always been important for AKROPOLE Alfa Shopping Centre to offer a broader shopping and entertainment experience, and with this exhibition of artworks we will together invite everyone to be inspired by beautiful things in their everyday life! We are delighted to have such a talented artist as Baiba in our community, whose colourful works speak for themselves and will delight our visitors! We wish Baiba continued and great success in her career,” says Zane Kaktiņa, Manager of AKROPOLE Alfa Shopping Centre.

For this exhibition, Baiba Feoktistova has brought together 13 works created between 2019 and 2022. Four of them are new and never seen before, including a special work by the artist, enhanced with neon lights and created in collaboration with Luna Neon. Visitors can also see three painted dresses.

The artist uses elements of flora, fauna, as well as colourful flowers, animals, tropical fliers - each of them carries a symbolic meaning, resulting in a story about the inherent qualities of a woman. Flowers, berries and fruits are symbols of fertility, celebrating mother nature and the creative power of women.

“In my work, I accentuate the nature of women, giving the images a light-hearted, flirtatious and seductive portrayal of femininity, because I believe these elements are an integral part of modern femininity. I am delighted to have started working with AKROPOLE Alfa to inspire visitors to the shopping centre to look at beauty from a different perspective. I believe that my works will be able to delight every visitor,” says artist Baiba Feoktistova, author of the exhibition “Portrait of Femininity”.

On 13 and 20 August, as well as on 3 September, from 12.00-15.00, alongside the exhibition, the youngest visitors will have the opportunity to express their creativity in a creative workshop by colouring and decorating cards with black and white versions of the artist's works.
