The charity campaign “Let’s help prepare for school together!” concluded at the end of the summer, during which everyone in Latvia had the chance to support Latvian and Ukrainian refugee families in need by helping them prepare their children for school. During the four-week period, residents and businesses made donations in school supply donation boxes, virtual donation stands and by bank transfer to help support 317 Latvian and Ukrainian refugee children, thus providing school supplies to all the applicants.

Based on the applications received by the charity organisation Ziedot.lv, 150 Ukrainian refugee first-graders and 167 Latvian pupils will receive support. Children from Riga, Liepāja, Daugavpils, Krāslava, Aizkraukle Municipality, Pļaviņas, Ape and Grobiņa will receive support.

“As a dad myself, I understand how important this event – the beginning of the school year – is for children, so I am happy that for the fifth consecutive year, we have the opportunity to provide significant support to low-income families in Latvia, as well as Ukrainian refugee families, with the involvement of donors and cooperation partners. On behalf of AKROPOLE shopping centres, I would like to sincerely thank every donor who was willing to help students start the new school year with fuller backpacks and smiles on their faces,” comments Kaspars Beitiņš, CEO and Board Member of SIA Akropole Rīga.

“Education is very important for the well-being of our community, so we thank AKROPOLE shopping centres for their annual charity campaign. Thanks to the people who participated and helped Latvian and Ukrainian pupils to get ready for school. A new school bag, notebooks and stationery will give them confidence and a sense of empowerment when starting school,” says Rūta Dimanta, Head of the charity organisation Ziedot.lv.

AKROPOLE shopping centres and the charity organisation Ziedot.lv are very thankful to all donors and cooperation partners, including the publishing house Jānis Roze and the public relations agency VA Communications Rud Pedersen Group.

The charity campaign “Let’s help prepare for school together!” was organised for the fifth year by AKROPOLE shopping centres in cooperation with the charity organisation Ziedot.lv, the research agency Norstat and the parents’ organisation Mammamuntetiem.lv. The charity campaign was organised with the aim of helping pupils from low-income Latvian families and Ukrainian refugee families to better prepare for the new school year.
