Throughout July an art exhibition dedicated to the Baltic Sea will be on display at AKROPOLE Alfa

2023-07-03

From 1 to 31 July, the “#manajūra” exhibition of paintings by the artist Aļona Kaļeviča can be viewed in the exhibition hall of the AKROPOLE Alfa shopping and entertainment centre. In total, the exhibition will feature 16 works, depicting the sights of the Baltic Sea and Latvian nature, supplemented with elements corresponding to coastal nature. The exhibition is free to visit every day from 10:00 to 21:00.

Aļona has been painting for 12 years, gradually developing her skills through self-learning and turning her hobby into a full-time job and a source of income. The artist's works have been presented in exhibition halls, the largest shopping centres and hotels in Latvia more than 20 times. Aļona has gained a lot of attention with a very atypical painting technique, using a sponge instead of traditional brushes, with which acrylic paint is spread on large canvases in a unique manner. Over time, the artist's painting technique has gained a lot of attention, which is why several art schools in Latvia want to include master classes led by Aļona in their arsenal.

“My love for the sea could be described in one sentence as ‘I always miss you’, because I always feel happy by the sea, whether it is in warm summer or cold winter. The distant horizon, the vastness and the wind help to clear my head of thoughts, so painting the sea is like therapy, constantly returning to my safe haven. Through the sea, I often depict myself as well, because I believe that my character is just as volatile and emotionally saturated, so I put a piece of myself in every work I paint. With this exhibition, I hope that the visitors of the shopping centre will also be able to capture the energy brought by the volatility of the sea, so that they can continue their daily activities more easily and smoothly,” says artist Aļona Kaļeviča.

“Aļona Kaļeviča's works are exhibited at AKROPOLE Alfa for the second time. Last year, the artist's works were admired by visitors, so we are pleased to welcome Aļona back this summer as well. Especially in the summer season, the sea coast is one of the most visited places, so we are happy to be able to bring a small part of its beauty and wildlife into the premises of the shopping centre. We invite everyone to find a moment this July to catch their breath and cool off on the shores of the painting exhibition,” says Artūrs Bernhards, Manager of the AKROPOLE Alfa shopping centre.
